작업은 단순히 눈에 보이는 아름다움을 좇는 일이 아닌, ‘어떻게 존재할 것인가’를 묻는 조용한 사유의 시간입니다. 시아노(Cyanotype)의 짙은 푸른 층 위에 얹힌 먹의 굵은 획, 그리고 겹겹이 포개어진 투명한 필름들은 오랜 시간 묵묵히 쌓아온 삶의 태도이자 조용히 다져온 의지의 흔적입니다. 화폭에 피어난 꽃과 열매는 그저 자연을 본뜬 것이 아니라, 숱한 시간과 감정의 결을 통과하며 맺어진 삶의 궤적과도 같습니다.
My work is not a pursuit of visible beauty, but a quiet reflection on ‘how to exist.’ The bold ink strokes layered upon the deep blue hues of cyanotype, along with the transparent overlapping films, represent a silent accumulation of life’s attitudes and traces of quiet resolve. The flowers and fruits blossoming on the canvas are not mere imitations of nature; they are the trajectories of a life formed through the passage of countless times and emotional textures.
빛이 스스로를 내세우지 않고 세상을 비추듯, 소금이 형태를 지우며 만물에 스며들듯, 이제는 억지로 감정을 지어내거나 덧칠하지 않으려 합니다. 그저 켜켜이 쌓인 시간들이 자연스럽게 배어 나오기를 기다릴 뿐입니다. 이 공간에 머무는 발걸음들 또한 단순히 캔버스를 바라보는 것을 넘어, 각자의 지나온 시간과 감정들이 작품 위로 천천히 스며들기를 바랍니다. 그리하여 마침내 스스로의 깊은 내면과 마주하는, 고요하고도 따뜻한 경험이 되기를 소망합니다.
Just as light illuminates the world without announcing itself, and as salt dissolves to permeate all things, I no longer seek to force or overpaint my emotions. I simply wait for the accumulated layers of time to naturally seep through. I hope that the footsteps lingering in this space go beyond merely observing the canvas—allowing each viewer’s past time and emotions to slowly permeate the artwork. Through this, I wish for them to finally encounter their own deep inner selves in a quiet and warm experience.
